Lutetia-Augustomagus was a Roman settlement established on the site of the Celtic oppidum of the Parisii tribe. The name reflects the hybrid Gallo-Roman character of the settlement: Lutetia, the Celtic name, combined with Augustomagus, Latin for "market of Augustus."
